Normal-Bad Sex | Interactive Podcast

by Swathi Sambasivam, Nyusha Impolski

Abstract

A collection of playable podcasts about real people’s uncomfortable sexual experiences, uniting spoken history with video games. The series creates a space for unconventional and honest storytelling using real interview audio and mini games that highlight the speaker’s feelings.

Play the Game:

Menu Design

I made the title animation on After effects, the rest was animated on unity.

The game is a series and were working on our first story and proof of concept.

Vignette Design

The story is abstracted as animals in a jungle, so I made a slow-moving vignette that ties the bar scenes and the mini-games.

Also made a popcorn game during bar scenes to keep audience engagement.

Mini games

  • Characters were abstracted to be animals in a jungle but are personified and keep their human attributes

  • The mini games reflect the emotion and not the literal experience

  • No fail states

  • Easy, accessible

  • Audio auto plays

  • Continue at own pace
